Reviews - CoolerMaster Musketeer - System Dynamics Indicator

"Pure eye-candy. Its got the looks and you can tell all your friends that it actually

'does something' - even though it doesn't do much… £30 not bad"

It's a "systems dynamics indicator" you explain to your friends as they crowd around the three illuminated blue dials in your PC. Ohhh… Ahhh… drawn to the lights like teams of mosquitoes on hot summer evenings they will tap the dials, fiddle with the switches and your status will be elevated to that of a GOD.

Yes, we like being a God, but if God knows everything then surely we cannot be - For one, we spend our money on the Musketeer but haven't a clue what it is actually for! Sure it monitors Voltage, Sound Output and Temperature of your PC but why do you need to monitor this?

Ahh! The cleverer of you will say that we can adjust the voltage of the fans, and thus temperature will change as a result. Bah! Say we… changing the voltage of the fan form 6 to 10 has a negligible affect on the sound of the fans, and while temperature may change slightly - your CPU will still operate without a difference.

Maybe that's naive coming from an amateur 'modder' but the Musketeer will not change the life of your PC. The final dial on the Musketeer is for VU (or sound output for those of us who don't speak audiophile) This looks pretty cool as the needle jolts along as you play your music. The good thing here is that it detects sound output directly from your sound card; no software no problems.

We can criticise the use of the Musketeer all we want, but we feel it best compared to a piece of fine jewellery. CoolerMaster is certainly a prestige brand when it comes to such hardware, and with good reason too. The build quality of this unit is impeccable . Finished to a very high standard, made from top materials and looks great. Your friends will think better of you, they will be green (or should we say blue… backlight blue) with envy and want to own one themselves.

Available from around £30 what could go wrong? In-fact looking at this you would think it cost a good £50/100. What are you waiting for? You sit for hors in front of your monitor with no company, you deserve the Musketeer to keep you sane though the morning, treat yourself, we have - many a time.
