Reviews - Foood.net - Tasty XP Style Icons "Yellow windows folders have had their day. Make your OS designer… Introducing FOOOD.net - as good as food, but with an extra 'O'" We are going to say it - whether you like it or not, it has to be said: Windows XP is a godsend and we love it. Never has an operating system been so stable and while we can pretend that we really love its clever programming and innovative use of mathematical algorithms, the real reason we love XP is because of its looks. Microsoft has brought its bog-standard grey-windows square-icons up to modern day design standards with funky icons a plethora of swish effects and the much loved little green start button that just sits there with its imaginary puppy eyes begging you to press it. Its true! Look at it… see what were getting at? If however your more of an Apple person, or just don't want to worship the silicon-valley window-maker himself, there is a solution. You can customise your Windows icons on folders, drives and applications to spruce up the look of your computer. After all, XP has been with us for some years now and the yellow-folder icons are hardly something that Armani would fashion his latest season from. There are a variety of websites where you can download ready-made icons from and just 'drop' them into your new computer décor-scheme; and not a paintbrush or wallpapering table with or that blasted paste anywhere in sight. One website which we all love to bits however is http://www.Foood.net - Here you can find (rather appropriately) tasty icons created with such professional detail and flair that they look like they are something out of a leaked XP Plus package. They have everything from control panel icons to pictures to replace the ghastly yellow Window folders - All with meticulous detail, perfect shadows and compatible in a variety of sizes to suit all desktop display modes. What's more, Food being the globally accepted commodity that it is will also work on nearly all other operating systems including Apple: Perfect for the "Ministry of Microsoft Worshipers Who Renounce Mackintosh" (Donations Welcome) who regretfully find themselves using Apple machines against their will and want to "Microsoftize" their display. The actual technicalities of changing the icons once downloaded on your computer vary. One the one hand it can be childsplay - using the 'properties' menus to change the bulk of your icons. If however you want to change the Windows system icons your best downloading an application to help you: That said, the applications themselves are all easy to use and Foood.net has extensive help resources on icon creation, and installation (should you want to have a go at creating your own iconic works of art) Food is a good thing, it comes it a variety of forms and caters to a variety of tastes. Food looks good and once you have sampled food you usually end up coming back for more. Now consider if food was a website… and now, consider it was a website with an extra 'o' in the middle - That's the kind of FOOOD we are talking about. ©2004 Lordowner Network.
